LTO Information
Once you have been an employee of BWDSB as an OT for ten (10) months and have worked twenty (20) days, you may apply to interview for the LTO List. These interviews are currently held in April each year. You should be getting to know Vice Principals and Principals during this time in order to have useful references. Here is a Powerpoint Presentation from the Board to assist you in preparing for the interview. It is not to be taken lightly. Many people are unsuccessful due to lack of preparation. The Board takes this interview very seriously and considers this the final assessment of those who wish to hire into contract positions in the future. This document of supplemental notes accompanies the presentation.
Starting with the school year 2019/2020 the board has agreed to allow those who meet the criteria for an LTO list interview to have the interview waived if they have a successful OT evaluation. See the LTO Evaluations tab for more information.
Upon receipt of a successful OT Evaluation or at the request of a teacher who believes they have met the criteria (copy of OT evaluation to be scanned and sent with request to the board) the board will:
- Verify the OT has been on the Roster for at least 10 months.
- Verify a minimum of 20 FTE has been worked in a period of 10 months within the last five years
- If the criteria has not been met – a message to be sent to the OT to notify the board when they believe the criteria has been met, so they can re-verify
If the criteria has been met, the board will:
- Add OT to the List
- Notify OT and cc the union president to inform they are on the list
- Post an updated list to SharePoint
