Greetings:
I am writing to request that you support and mobilize you members to join Women’s Marches. On Saturday, January 20, 2018, women will again march with people of all genders, ages, races, abilities, backgrounds, and orientations will take part in the Women’s Marches across Canada. Unions know that gender, racial, and economic justice are inextricably linked.
We March because we are inspired by the truly grassroots beginnings of this day of action, and the principles outlined by the organizers. Like them, we believe in building a world where violence against women, racial profiling, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, and other forms of violence and discrimination, have no place in our homes, workplaces or communities.
We March in continued resistance to the hate that threatens, demonizes and insults so many of us – Muslims, Jews, racialized people, Indigenous people, migrants and those with precarious or no legal status, members of the LGBTQI* communities, people living with disabilities and women.
We March to build upon grassroots movements such as - #METOO, BlackLivesMatter, #$15&Fairness, Make It Fair, Idle No More. We March because we know that gender, social and economic equality is possible.
