Hello Bluewater TBU Members,
My name is Shannon Lamont and I am a Senior Financial Advisor at Educators Financial Group. I thought it would be timely to keep you up to date on what EFG has done to adapt to the current circumstances, and how we can better assist members through these unprecedented times.
First, we now offer webinars! We will continue to present retirement webinars jointly with our partners at OTIP and OSSTF for those who are considering retirement, but we will also offer Educator-specific webinars with content outside of the retirement conversation. We have workshops dedicated to cashflow, investing, lending, and many other topics that Educators want. Members can view and register for webinars directly on our site: https://educatorsfinancialgroup.ca/webinars/ or through OTIP: https://www.otip.com/Retirement-Workshops
Second, we offer 1:1 consultations through a video-conferencing platform. While the face-to-face meetings have come to a halt, technology has allowed us to maintain the same conversations we previously had. The platform we use is secure and does not require any programs to be installed on a computer. Members can use their computer, tablet, or cell phone to join the conversation.
Third, we have launched a lower fee structure on our Registered Education Savings Plans. We have extended savings by 20% on our management fees within an RESP on eligible investments to help members save more for their loved ones futures. Tools and information can be found here: https://educatorsfinancialgroup.ca/low-fee-resp/
Last, we have made the onboarding process easier than ever. While financial institutions have reduced their hours of operation, forcing clients to book an appointment 5+ days from the time they require urgent advice, I am available around the clock. I have maintained availability for all members on the same day, or at least within one business day of their contact. Everything can now be completed and submitted electronically, which not only helps save time and paper, but allows you to spend more time with your family!
If there is anything I can do to support you, please reach out.
All the best,
Shannon Lamont, RFRA®
Senior Financial Advisor

Shannon Lamont, RFRA®
Senior Financial Advisor [email protected] Educators Financial Group 2225 Sheppard Ave. East, Suite 1105 Toronto, Ontario, M2J5C2 Mobile: 647.999.3606 Office: 416.752.6843 or 1.800.263.9541 ext. 3553 www.educatorsfinancialgroup.ca Shannon knows how to make a dream become a reality. Growing up, she had two dreams: becoming a teacher, and working in the business world. Today, she has achieved both, through a career where she teaches clients about the business of finances. She has her RFRA® (Registered Financial and Retirement Advisor) designation from the Canadian Institute of Financial Planning, is working towards becoming a CFP® (Certified Financial Planner) and aims to ultimately become a CFA® (Chartered Financial Analyst).
Working as a Financial Advisor at Scotiabank, she developed in-depth knowledge of borrowing and investing. She has chosen to work with Educators Financial Group because, “Some of the most influential people in my life have been my teachers. Working for a company that has the teaching community’s best interests at heart really drew me in.” Shannon looks forward to helping her clients at Educators achieve their dreams. |
Chris Knoch
Accredited Mortgage Professional Agent Regional Director, South Western Region Educators Financial Group 2225 Sheppard Ave. East, Suite 1105 Toronto, Ontario, M2J5C2 Office: 416.752.6843 or 1.800.263.9541 www.educatorsfinancialgroup.ca Education members working with Chris Knoch truly have the best of both worlds. As he worked as a teacher for 32 years, Chris knows first-hand about an educator’s financial challenges, and the importance of financial literacy.
“As a teacher, I witnessed the gaping void in educating our youth in the area of financial literacy, therefore my favourite aspect of working in the financial field is educating clients of all ages in the intricacies of the financial world,” he says. Now, as an Accredited Mortgage Professional (AMP) and experienced Mortgage Agent, he combines this personal insight into educators’ needs with an in-depth and specialized education in mortgages and the real estate market. Working at Educators, Chris has found that there is a “team atmosphere, which creates an atmosphere of ease and camaraderie as we all strive to assist our clients.” |
