SAFETY FOR ALL
www.osstf.on.ca/public-education/safety-for-all.aspx
Ontarians understand that when education workers and students are at risk, so are the communities in which they live and the families they go home to at the end of every day.
Since March 2020, when the government closed schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic, OSSTF has been focused on taking action and finding solutions that would create and sustain safe learning environments, for both education workers and students in every school in the province. We know that improving the quality of publicly-funded education must include creating a system that ensures safety for all.
Ontario needs a long-term vision for publicly-funded education that takes the advice of public health experts seriously and commits the funding needed to ensure our students, families, and education workers have safe learning environments in every publicly-funded school in Ontario. This requires concrete actions that are inclusive of all student needs, and that support the efforts of the entire education team, including occasional, casual, and itinerant education workers who provide important services to students. By working together, we can achieve #SafetyforAll.
Safety for all won’t happen unless people from across the province sign up and be part of this campaign. Parents, guardians, teachers, education workers, and allies know what is at stake. The only way forward is if everyone comes together, speaks up, and demands change.
Take action today. Become an advocate for publicly-funded education by visiting the Here for Students campaign page at www.hereforstudents.ca where you can quickly and easily send a letter to your MPP, the premier, and the ministers of education and health.

Bargaining for Education
https://bargainingforeducation.ca
OSSTF is committed to protecting and enhancing public education. We believe that it’s in the public interest to keep you informed of the collective bargaining process, what’s at stake, and our position. In the current climate, open and transparent labour negotiations are good for Ontario Teachers and Educational Workers, Ontario students, parents and Ontario Schools. The purpose of this website is to freely and transparently distribute materials related to current labour negotiations between the Ontario’s Secondary School Teachers’ Federation and the Ontario Government/School Boards.
Better Schools, Stronger Economy
https://betterschoolsstrongereconomy.ca
We’re here for Ontario’s students because they are the future of our province. As parents, we want what is best for our kids. We want them to achieve and succeed – to be prepared to meet any challenges they might face and to aspire to do great things. We want to give them a good start, the tools to not only define but decide their future and open the doors of limitless opportunity. That good start begins with a good education.
A recent Conference Board of Canada report noted that education is the most powerful route to improving private and public prosperity and well-being: “Strong education systems not only lead people to higher incomes…and to contribute disproportionately to business innovation, productivity and national economic performance, but to have higher rates of civic engagement, life satisfaction [and a] tendency to make decisions that lead to healthier, longer lives.”
Instilling that love for education starts early and it begins with our teachers and support staff, the dedicated professionals at the heart of our children’s education system. It is their passion that kindles the fire and instils in our students that life-long desire to learn. And it is more than just their commitment to what goes on in the classroom: it is their commitment to after-school programs, to sports teams, to the arts, and to creating a safe and well-balanced environment for our students to grow and learn.
