Another year is moving closer to completion and every day I am in awe of the work ESP members do.
I have never been prouder to say that I represent EAs, ECEs and OECs both permanent and temporary.
Our jobs get more difficult every day, being assigned to students with higher needs and less ESP members to work with them.
ESP members give 110% day in and day out adapting to whatever situation is thrown your way.

In the past we have send Tim Horton Cards to worksites to celebrate Support Staff Appreciation Day.  The decision by the Executive this year was to change it up so at our Joint PD Day on Friday, June 2nd there will be fruit trays out for the morning snack.

Please enjoy your day!

Did You Know....?

May 2, 2017 — On Wednesday, May 3, as part of Education Week, OSSTF/FEESO celebrates the thousands of educational support staff workers whose hard work and daily contributions have helped to ensure that Ontario’s public education system remains one of the best in the world.
Education Week was initiated in Ontario by OSSTF/FEESO more than eighty years ago to celebrate the important role publicly-funded education plays in the life of our province. Support Staff Appreciation Day was introduced as an integral part of Education Week in 1999 to ensure that the roles of secretaries, technicians, educational assistants, instructors, psychologists, speech-language pathologists, social workers, plant support personnel, attendance counsellors, early childhood educators and other education workers would be fully acknowledged.
The entire spectrum of publicly-funded education – elementary schools, secondary schools, colleges and universities – relies on a diverse education team. Every person on that team plays a part in ensuring safe, clean and welcoming environments for learning, and in equipping Ontario’s students with the knowledge, skills and sense of community they need to succeed in a rapidly-changing world.
We ask all Ontarians to join us in celebrating Support Staff Appreciation Day, and to acknowledge the crucial roles educational support staff play in ensuring that all students succeed.

Every year beginning the first Monday in May, Ontario celebrates Education Week. This year, Education Week is from May 1 to May 5.
The theme of Education Week 2017, Many Faces, Many Places, One Vision, recognizes a publicly-funded education system that embraces the diverse cultures and experiences of its students while always maintaining a clear focus the primary goal of laying the foundations for all of those students to succeed in their post-secondary endeavours and beyond.
The celebration of Education Week was established by OSSTF/FEESO in 1930 to recognize and celebrate the essential role public education plays in the lives of communities all over the province. Within a few years Education Week was being celebrated across Canada, and today, thanks to OSSTF/FEESO’s initiative 87 years ago, it is officially recognized in Ontario and observed by education stakeholders throughout the province.
