We are GOING GREEN! As individuals, we can green our homes, schools and offices and have a huge impact. Some ways in which we (ESP BU) are trying to reduce our carbon footprint are: *Post links, articles, Collective Agreement, Constitutional Bylaws, and Seniority List on the Website *Send fewer copies of publications from OSSTF to members *Encourage members to subscribe to receive emails and notifications *Arrange BU Executive and District Meetings at our new and bigger District Office *Encourage car pooling to meetings and gatherings. T4A Tax Slips
The OSSTF Benefits plan provides Basic Life Insurance and AD&D (Accidental Death and Dismemberment) benefits based on 2 times annual earnings. The funding for these benefits is from the negotiated FTE funding for active members and there is no required member contribution. Therefore, the Life & AD&D premium is a taxable benefit and members will be receiving T4A tax slips from OTIP for these taxable benefits by the end of February. These taxable benefit amounts are calculated based on the cost of Life and AD&D premiums paid for the 2017 calendar year (January to December). Prior to transition into the OSSTF ELHT, these amounts would have been reported to members on their T4 from their employer. OSSTF District 7 members are invited to join us at the local march held in Wiarton. Wiarton Women’s MarchSaturday, January 20, 2018 1:00 pm South Bruce Peninsula Town Hall 315 George Street Wiarton, ON NOH 2T0 *PLEASE JOIN US AND OTHER AFFILIATES! Greetings:
I am writing to request that you support and mobilize you members to join Women’s Marches. On Saturday, January 20, 2018, women will again march with people of all genders, ages, races, abilities, backgrounds, and orientations will take part in the Women’s Marches across Canada. Unions know that gender, racial, and economic justice are inextricably linked. We March because we are inspired by the truly grassroots beginnings of this day of action, and the principles outlined by the organizers. Like them, we believe in building a world where violence against women, racial profiling, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, and other forms of violence and discrimination, have no place in our homes, workplaces or communities. We March in continued resistance to the hate that threatens, demonizes and insults so many of us – Muslims, Jews, racialized people, Indigenous people, migrants and those with precarious or no legal status, members of the LGBTQI* communities, people living with disabilities and women. We March to build upon grassroots movements such as - #METOO, BlackLivesMatter, #$15&Fairness, Make It Fair, Idle No More. We March because we know that gender, social and economic equality is possible.
