TBU SENIORITY LIST

Members make frequent requests for up-to-date seniority lists, but must be aware that the board does not provide the bargaining unit with an updated list after each hire, transfer, change in FTE, or retirement.

The TBU Collective Agreement states that “The seniority list shall be posted in all work locations and copies forwarded to the President of the Bargaining Unit no later than October 31 and March 1 of each school year” (15.05.01).

The TBU Seniority Lists below are the most recent we have received from the board: October 31, 2025.

To protect members' privacy, these documents are password-protected. Members can find the password in the most recent newsletter, which has been emailed to you.

Supply Teaching on Prep

  • For 2025-26, like the three previous years, the STBU has again signed a Letter of Agreement (LoA) with the Board that allows permanent members to accept occasional work on their prep periods when a job has gone unfilled through the Occasional Teachers’ call out procedure.
  • This applies to all permanent members, even if you are not on the occasional teachers’ list.
  • If you are interested in supply teaching on your prep, please speak to the administrator at your school who handles absences so they know who to approach when a supply job goes unfilled.
  • Please be aware that for each period worked, you will be paid 1/3 of the daily OT rate, not 1/3 of your usual daily rate at your grid step and category.
  • The daily OT rate is currently $286.28, and 1/3 of this is $95.43 – there may be deductions that apply to this as well.
  • CHECK YOUR CHEQUE! Some members report being paid less than one-third of a day at the OT rate – the error is caused when the supply work is entered into SmartFind as “emergency” supply (a.k.a. supply work performed by a person who is not a certified teacher) rather than as a permanent teacher who who must be paid at the daily occasional rate for one period. If this happens, please please speak to the administrator at your school who handles absences ASAP so that they can correct the error ASAP.
  • PLEASE NOTE: If you currently work part-time, you can supply teach on your prep and on unpaid time. Members on a part-time medical leave cannot accept supply work during the period from which they have taken the medical leave.
  • The LoA can be found with the TBU Collective Agreement in the BWDSB Staff Portal (https://portal.bwdsb.on.ca/BW_Portal) > Collective Agreements > OSSTF > LoA.
